PREP JUNIOR & PREP SENIOR

For classes Prep Jr. and Prep Sr. there will be no term-end examinations. Assessment tasks will be conducted whose scores will be maintained for the purpose of term end reports. However, all assessments conducted will be shared with parents on a regular basis or during parent teacher meetings.

There will be two Terms in the academic year.

Term 1                             April 2017 to September 2017

Term 2                             October 2017 to March 2018

English, Environmental Science (EVS), Mathematics and Hindi which cover the scholastic area will be assessed through worksheets in which marks will be assigned and later on the same marks will be converted into grades. In the repost card, only grades will be reflected.

Internal Assessment will include

1. Oral Tests
2. Regularity, Assignment completion, Neatness and upkeep of note books.

Annual Result will be declared on the basis of cumulative assessment as follows:

CLASSES I TO III

CLASS I

Syllabus covered till Term 1 shall not be included in Term 2. In each term there will be two written tests i.e. WT-1 and WT-2 in Term 1and WT-3 and WT- 4 in Term2. The assessment in each term will be done on the basis of these written tests and also homework, class assessments and project work.

CLASSES II & III

Classes II and III will have two Terms.

GRADING FOR CLASSES I to III

The report card will indicate positional letter grade in each subject on eight-point scale mentioned below. The grades for General Awareness and Value Education will also be awarded on the scale mentioned below i.e. A1, A 2 …. With regard to promotion to the next class, those who have secured qualifying grades (i.e. D and above) will be promoted to the next higher class. The last grade (E) is a Non-qualifying grade.

CRITERIA FOR PROMOTION

1. Minimum qualifying grade in all the main subjects, General Awareness and Value Education under Scholastic Domain is D.

2. Promotion is granted on the basis of cumulative performance of the pupil. Hence it is important for a child to be regular in attendance, tests, term exams and assignments.

3. Any student indulging in any unfair means or missing any school exam will not be eligible for any award.

CLASSES IV TO VIII

The academic year will be divided into two terms.

The grading for Work Education, Art Education, Health and Physical Education, Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, and Values) will be based on the three-point scale as mentioned for classes I to III.

GRADING FOR CLASSES IV TO VIII

The report card will indicate positional letter grade in each subject on eight-point scale as mentioned for classes I to III.

The grades for Environmental Education, Third Language, General Awareness and Computer Education will also be awardedon eight-point scale. With regard to promotion to the next class, those who have secured qualifying grades (i.e. D and above) will be promoted to the next higher class.

CRITERIA FOR PROMOTION

1. Promotion is granted on the basis of cumulative performance of the pupil. Hence it is important for a child to be regular in attendance, term examinations and assignments.

2. For promotion to the next class, the student must secure minimum D grade in all the subjects including G.A., Computer Education and Environmental Education.

3. Attendance for all tests is compulsory. Satisfactory written explanation for absence has to be given to the class teacher. No student will be allowed to leave the school after the tests.

4. Students indulging in unfair means during any examination will be awarded zero in that subject. There will be no retest for such students. Repetition of the same will result in expulsion. They will NOT be eligible for any academic award, school appointment or any prize by the school.

5. A child who fails twice in the same class will not be permitted to continue his/ her studies in the school.

CLASSES IX AND X

IMPORTANT: CBSE has discontinued the dual scheme (Scheme-I and Scheme II) of the examination of class X from the academic year 2017-18. The examination from the academic year 2017-18 will be as per the remodeled assessment structure mentioned below. The Annual Exam will cover 100% syllabus of the subject.CLASS X WILL HAVE BOARD EXAMINATION.

In classes IX and X there will be three periodic written tests in the entire academic year and the average of best two will be taken. For the purpose of gradient learning there shall be one midterm and the other two will be pre midterm and post midterm. The syllabus in midterm will include the pre midterm syllabus while the post midterm will include pre midterm and midterm syllabus. All three tests are compulsory . If a child is absent for a test, the school had no provision for holding the tests at a later date.

The grades for Work Education, Art Education, Physical and Health Education,Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, and Values) will be based on the five-point scale mentioned below.

CRITERIA FOR PROMOTION

1. Promotion is granted on the basis of cumulative performance of the pupil. Hence it is important for a child to be regular in attendance, tests, term examinations and assignments.

2. For promotion, each student has to secure 33% marks out of overall 20 marks of internal assessment (periodic tests+ notebook submission + subject enrichment activity) and 33 % marks out of 80 marks in each subject of annual exam.

3. The compartment exams policy shall be as specified by C.B.S.E.

4. Those who do not satisfy the conditions for promotion/ compartment will be declared detained.

5. Students indulging in unfair means during any examination will be awarded zero in that subject. There will be no retest for such students. Repetition of the same will result in expulsion. They will NOT be eligible for any academic award, school appointment or any recognition by the school.

CLASS XI

Syllabus in all subjects will be divided into two terms. Syllabus of full academic session will be included in the Annual Examinations, which shall be strictly on C.B.S.E. pattern. Each term will have one written test in each subject. All tests are compulsory. The school has no provision for holding the tests later. However, test can be held later under following circumstances:

1. Child has represented the school in any Inter DPS Competition.

2. Late Admission

3. Unforeseen emergency/untoward incident in the family.

The report card will indicate positional letter grade in each subject on nine-point scale as per C.B.S.E. pattern. All the students successful in the Annual Examination (i.e. 33% and above) will be put in rank order and will be awarded grades as for classes IX and X.

The grading for Work Experience, Health and Physical Education, Environmental Education and General Studies shall be on the nine-point scale as per Board pattern.

CRITERIA FOR PROMOTION

1. Promotion is granted on the basis of cumulative performance of the pupil. Hence it is important for a child to be regular in attendance, written tests, terminal examinations and assignments.

2. A clear pass will require minimum D2 grade in cumulative, in each subject as per promotion policy. Evaluation will be based on student's academic performance in the Half Yearly, Final exam and Written Tests in all terms.

3. For promotion, the students must pass in theory and practical separately in all subjects wherever it is applicable.

4. The compartment exams policy shall be as specified by C.B.S.E.

5. Those who do not satisfy the conditions for promotion/ compartment will be declared detained.

6. Final decision regarding promotion will be made by a committee of senior faculty headed by the Principal .

7. The students who have not completed a regular course of study i.e. have not completed 75% attendance are not eligible to appear in the examination.

CLASS XII

Class XII will have 1 cycle of written test + Half-Yearly Exam + 2 Pre-Finals

NOTE:

Class XII Syllabus shall be completed by October 2017

PRE-FINAL EXAMINATION: There will be two Pre- Finals for class XII.

1. First Pre Final Examination will commence from December 6, 2017

2. Second Pre Final will commence from January 10, 2018

3. The question papers and marking scheme will be based on the pattern of C.B.S.E. Board Exams. The passing marks will be 33% with the students needing to pass in theory and practical separately. The entire syllabus will be tested in the exams.

It is compulsory for all students to sit for all written tests as well as Half Yearly and Pre-finals examinations

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES BY C.B.S.E. (CLASSES IX TO XII)

1. No student from a school affiliated to C.B.S.E. shall be eligible to take examination unless he/she has completed 75% attendance counted from opening of classes X and XII up to the first of the month preceding the month in which the examination commences. The students who have not completed a regular course of study i.e. have not completed 75% attendance are not eligible to appear in Board’s examination of Class X/XII . Shortage of attendance up to 15% only, maybe condoned by the Chairman CBSE New Delhi only, on the recommendation of the Principal of the school. (Rule 13.2 of the CBSE Examination Byelaws and reiterated vide letter CE/F.22/2008/363-88 dated 22/09/08).

2. Candidates taking up the subject involving practical work shall also be required to have put in at least 75% of total attendance for the practical work in the subject in the laboratory. Head of institutes shall not allow candidates to take the practical examination unless the candidate fulfils the attendance requirement. (Rule 13.1 of the CBSE Examination Byelaws)

3. Board awards Merit Certificate in each subject to the top 0.1% of candidates passing that subject.

4. As per the CBSE directives, an additional subject can be offered in Class XII only if it has been studies and passed in Class XI. Additional subject is not a substitute of a major subject.

5. CBSE has decided to withdraw the Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) from the Scheme of Studies in Classes IX and XI from the Session 2017-18.
